Be Your Own Birder

Giveaway – Coloring Birds!

Bird-themed coloring books can be a great way to study bird anatomy, field marks, and color patterns, improve finger dexterity, learn basic facts about birds, and relax and de-stress when you might not be able to get out and see as many birds as you would like. To help you do all these things, it’s time for a giveaway of two bird coloring books!

The Coloring Books to Win

The prize for this giveaway will be not one but two new coloring books, both of which feature a wide range of bird species and hours of engaging fun. I’ve used both of these books myself, and very much have enjoyed the details each one presents, as well as the snippets of bird habitats and the insights into bird behavior you’ll learn as you color.

Audubon’s Birds of America Coloring Book

Audubon's Birds of America Coloring Book

Featuring 46 bird species from different areas of the United States, this book not only gives stunning detail for you to color, but includes informative captions with the birds’ common and scientific names and general region, as well as identifying genders where necessary (which helps with more accurate coloring). The front and back inside covers are printed with full-color guides if you want to ensure accuracy to Audubon’s work, or you can choose to be more creative with how you color these gorgeous illustrations.

The brief captions include common and scientific names, range information, and gender identification when appropriate. The backgrounds are simple but appropriate to each species, and the birds are drawn in wonderful detail so you can more accurately color each one. A full-color guide is included in the front and back covers.

Scarlet Tanager, Prothonotary warbler, painted bunting, cedar waxwing, Northern parula, cerulean warbler……

Any of the heron species are hard to beat for colors, but oh did those roseate spoonbills bring joy to my days when we lived in Corpus Christi!

  3. Cheryl

I find the male Scarlet Tanager stunning. I know it’s not a bird of many colors, but I’m not familiar with colorful species from around the world (although today’s bird of the day is gorgeous) so I picked one from my life list.

  4. Tracy Abell

While researching for a book on birds of the world, I discovered rollers and bee-eaters, two very colorful bird species.

Thank you for this fun contest!
