It’s a new year, which means it’s time for a new giveaway! And what better than a prize pack of tools to help you get started birding in the new year? One winner will take home all the goodies to celebrate birding in 2024.

A new year is always filled with hope and optimism, a great time to get started on something new or refresh something you have enjoyed but might have slowed down with in the craziness of the holiday season. For Be Your Own Birder, this means decluttering my birding and rediscovering what I love about birds, and I want to share that refreshment with this month’s giveaway. What is one bird you would love to see in 2024?
This could be a new life bird, a fantasy bird, or simply a favorite you’re eagerly anticipating. For me, that would be a chickadee of any type – now living in Florida and on the coast, I don’t see them, but would love to add the Carolina chickadee to my life list, or just to enjoy the company of a black-capped chickadee if I travel a bit north sometime this year.

I’d love to see a bald eagle this year, they’re my absolute favorite but do not see them normally in the city where I am. Hoping to venture to where they are at some point!
My hope is to see some off shore birds! I am going on my first pelagic trip ever late summer and anticipate seeing some petrels, albatross.

I would love to see a Pileated Woodpecker in my yard in 2024. Also would welcome to my yard bluebirds, titmice, chickadees and blue jays. I am not too picky but please something besides English sparrows and starlings!
